Stay Motivated in Your Work at Home Business

Whether you're just starting out with your work at home business or you've had a home business for many years, you'll need to stay motivated if you're going to see continual success. Everyone goes through a home business slump occasionally, but it's those who stay motivated who will reach their goals. Here are five simple ways you can stay motivated in your work at home business.

1. Work from a List

Create a daily, weekly and even monthly list of things to do in your business. This sounds so simple, but yet a "to do" list is a powerful tool in helping you accomplish home business tasks. Prioritize your list each day so you can do those things that are most important first. If you have tasks that you absolutely dread, then put those tasks at the very top of the list if possible. This will give you a free mind for the remainder of the day to concentrate on the tasks you enjoy.

A list can consist of many things, from promotion steps to phone calls to make, and even a stack of papers that must be organized on your desk. Most successful business people create a list and then check off items as they are completed. This gives a sense of accomplishment throughout the day as you complete tasks.

2. Search for New Opportunities during Slow Business Times

Having a slow time in your work at home business? Don't despair. And, whatever you do, don't go apply for a job at the local fast food chain - just yet! Stay motivated by seeking out other home business opportunities that may tie into your current business.

Perhaps you offer a product or service that sells very slowly during the spring months. You could seek out related products or services that would be popular during those months to offset the other in profits. This will give you a chance to make money and enjoy multiple streams of income year round!

3. Take an Online Training Course for Better Education

Educate yourself through online training courses related to your field so you can learn how to maximize your skills and profits. There are many training courses available online today in the fields of web design, graphic design, online marketing, real estate, travel, office skills, medical, insurance, and finance.

With online training, you choose only those courses that will benefit you and your work at home business. You can usually take the courses at your own leisure from home, and will pay far less than you would for a college course.

4. Expand Marketing Avenues

Don't settle for less. Use the wisdom and experience of others who have been in business a while to expand your marketing avenues. You might consider reading after top marketers to get Internet marketing ideas. Also, there are many ways to promote your work at home business off-line.

To stay motivated, always test your efforts to see what results they bring. This is far more exciting than paying for ads and never knowing if they work or not!

5. Network with Others

Another way to stay motivated during a business slump is to network with others. Find others in related fields who can offer advice and encouragement about your business. A work at home business can be lonely at times because you never leave the house! Finding others online and off-line who do the same thing will give you an outlet for those lonely days.

Use these tips to stay motivated in your work at home business. You deserve success, so don't give up!

Blogging Can Help Your Business, Is it True ?

Not long ago, a diary was a deeply personal thing — a journal of thoughts and observations, kept under lock and key and often buried in a dresser drawer.

The Web has a way of changing things. Now, a diary of thoughts, observations and insight — posted on the Internet — may be a way to boost your business.

Web logs, or "blogs" as they're better known, have become a way to engage readers and potential customers of businesses big and small.

A blog is a journal posted on a Web site, updated on a regular basis and containing news, opinions, ideas and brainstorms. It might also have links to other sources of information, other Web sites and other blogs.

Many blogs cut both ways, inviting readers to post feedback on what they see. While that can apply to everything from sports and entertainment, it can also generate interest — and, ultimately, income — for your business.

No, blogs aren't for everyone. But see how they can accomplish these five basic business objectives.

1. Expose a new or little-known product or idea

For Grant Smith, blogging makes a world of sense on a number of levels. Smith operates a business that provides streaming video e-mail and related video communications products. Since many prospective clients might know little about video e-mail, Smith says his blog is a natural way to provide specifics.

"I began blogging to get established in the technology," Smith says. "It can have a positive impact for business. Readers are always looking for more ways to find out information about companies and for ways to interact."

That, in turn, can lead to a more informed customer and a more time-effective sales process. Rather than taking time to pitch your product or service to a client who may not need it, a blog supplants you as an information source. If a prospect contacts you, that's great. If not, you've wasted no time in explaining something that generates nothing in return.

2. Improve your search engine rankings

Blogging also puts you in touch with prospects in other ways. As any company with a position on the Internet realises, Web site visitors that come via Google, MSN and other search engines can provide numerous leads. Blogs can add to the frequency with which search vehicles identify you and your company, particularly if your blog allows readers to post a response.

If done properly, blogs have a tremendous benefit relative to search engines, according to Brad Fallon, president of SEO Research, a search engine marketing firm. "With blogs that allow comments, every new post and every new comment becomes an additional Web page filled with additional keywords to be picked up by the search engine spiders," he says.

3. Position yourself as an expert in an industry or field

Blogging also can also prove an effective marketing tool to establish yourself as an authority in your field. Not only can that generate leads, it also sends a positive message about your credentials through the marketplace and also gives your business a face and a personality.

4. Influence public opinion

Blogging also allows users to bypass traditional journalistic venues and, in effect, become a publisher of their own thoughts and viewpoints. For Steve Rubel, vice president of client services at a public relations firm, blogs are also fast becoming a powerful influence on public opinion.

"Blogs have evolved into legitimate alternative sources of news on niche and micro-niche topics," Rubel says. "Anyone with a passion and dedication could become an amateur journalist. I feel some of these sites — in aggregate — are having just as much sway on public opinion as larger, more established media brands."

5. Engage in a forum openly with your customers

Just as important, blogs that solicit reader comments can provide a sense of immediacy with your customers. In one respect, that's a ready source of feedback on what you're doing right and what you need to improve.

"My blog provides a forum for customers to give feedback after plunking their money down," says Fallon. "The result? While the normal market is lucky to have one-half of 1% of customers send an unsolicited testimonial, I have already collected glowing testimonials from over 15% of my customers."

RSS : Why You Want It

There seem to be several theories as to what RSS stands for so I will go with the most popular, Real Simple Syndication.

OK, enough geek speak, you want to know what it can do for you, right?

I imagine your car radio has several stations programmed in. These will be the stations that best fit your tastes. There may be a few featuring your favourite music and perhaps a traffic report station. Having them programmed into your radio means you can access them with one push of the button instead of searching everytime you want to tune in.

RSS can do the same for your web browsing. Rather than opening endless emails or trawling through websites hoping to find a nugget of useful information you can subscribe to RSS feeds from the people that have something interesting to say.

Your RSS reader will give you a headline and perhaps a line or two from the latest update and you can then decide whether to read on or not in much the same way as you scan the headlines in a newspaper until you see a story of interest.

There are RSS feeds available on just about every topic you can imagine. Whether you want to keep up on world news or the latest trivia you will find many feeds of interest. If your tastes change or the quality of the content drops off then you can just delete the RSS feed from your reader. No more opting out of email lists, putting up with 'follow up' autoresponder messages, just instant on/off access to information that deserves your attention.

This has to be good news as with the rise in popularity of RSS feeds the publishers of feeds have to stay on top of their game. They know that it is very easy for you to wander off elsewhere. You wouldn't continue to buy a newspaper or a magazine that bores you would you? This means that the quality of a feed is generally vey high which is certainly a positive step in the development of the internet.

Finding feeds is very easy - when you find a site or blog that you like just look for an XML or RSS button, usually orange or blue. If you click the button however the page you are taken to is just a bunch of HTML so you need a RSS reader to make sense of it. Just take a note of the url in the browser window at the top of your screen.

If you are a Yahoo subscriber you can simply add the url of the feed into your My Yahoo page. Google also now offers this service through Google Reader. Some browsers, such as Firefox also have RSS readers built in (just choose the add live feed option in the bookmark manager). Other services such as Quikonnex also offer a messaging service too which means you can completely bypass the whole spam ridden, over filtered ISP email system.

With RSS feeds available from broad subjects to narrow niche topics the internet now provides what it was originally supposed to do - share the best quality, most relevant information immediately.

Here is the BIG 101 Traffic Tips (Yaro Starak version)

Offer a free mini course or free ebook to help collect more subscribers. You can always offer a backend to monetize on this opportunity, such as an affiliate product for example.

5 Important Steps to Ensure Online Home Business Success

There is no shortage of job opportunities, from the high powered executive jobs to cleaning the windows in the very offices where the high earners ply their trades. One thing that most jobs DO have in common is that they have to answer to the 'bossman'.

I personally, was absolutely inspired by the idea of not having to answer to anyone ever again to make a living, when setting out to set up my first home business. The idea of working my own hours, spending time in the gym or with my kids if and when I pleased set me on a course of non-stop searching until I found the perfect online home business.

There are always the basic issues that almost everyone encounters in starting a new home business. Like deciding on what kind of business you want to start up.

Here are five important steps to follow to get started with internet marketing and for you to market your products or services from your own home.

1. Choose whether you want to start off with marketing your own products or become an affiliate marketer, as I am, which means marketing other peoples products for a commission.

2. Whether you start off with your own product or choose to market others you absolutely need to get your own website which includes domain name and web hosting.

3. Choose at least two or three internet marketing methods and incorporate these strategies into your business on a daily basis. Some examples are Article Marketing, Email Marketing, Search Engine Optimisation, and Blogging.

4. Budget your money wisely. You may not be a one week wonder nor an overnight success. Give your online business at least one year to work out and set out your funds accordingly. It took me over 5 years to make a significant profit and 6 years to make Internet Marketing a full-time job. Don't blow your entire marketing budget on a one-shot media blitz. If it fails you will plummet into despair and more than likely give up.

5. Be persistent! You MUST do something positive for your business every single day if you want to succeed. Marketers use the Rule of Seven. Prospects must see or hear your message seven times before they consider buying. That means you need to get your message out their consistently. You will be surprised how much traffic you can drum up if you just KEEP AT IT.

In conclusion, getting set up is only a beginning. The real power comes from the marketing of your business. After all, a website is only a blip on the vast screen of the world wide web unless you drive visitors to make sales or signups for your affiliate services.

Choosing the Right Web Hosting

Web hosting can be defined in a simple form, as the space provided on a web server for storing the collection of files related to a web site. A web site is a combination of various files and text linked together with the help of HTML or other programming languages. Any web site will be inaccessible unless it’s made available to all the people around the planet. This is accomplished through web hosting. However there are many factors to be considered while choosing a web hosting plan. Just continue reading to learn more about web hosting.

For a better understanding, web hosting can be divided into 4 major groups like Costs involved in web hosting, programming languages, operating systems, and the functionality.

The Costs Involved in Hosting a Web Site

When it comes to web hosting, you will be able to find many free web hosting service providers. However, these free web hosts have certain limitations and will not be suitable for commercial web sites. For example, most of these free web hosts limit the server space they provide to (say) 200 MB or less. Moreover, most of these free service providers will allow only up to 5 GB monthly traffic (maximum that I have found). There are many other service providers who offer cheap web hosting solutions starting from $5 a month. Choosing the right service provider depends on your web design and traffic demand.

Designing A Web Site - The programming Languages

As already explained, a web site is a collection of files and text that is linked together with the help of a programming language. The most commonly used programming languages today are PHP, ASP, JSP and PERL. The web hosting services compatible with these programming languages are called PHP web hosting, ASP web hosting, JSP web hosting and PERL web hosting. These are not interchangeable and should be chosen based on your existing your future software.

Choosing the Operating System

The selection of the programming language also depends upon the Operating system that you prefer. ASP is restricted to Microsoft Windows, further programming languages, PHP, JSP and PERL; work not only on Windows, but also on UNIX and Linux. You will have to choose Windows hosting, UNIX hosting or rather Linux hosting depending upon your programming language.

Functionality of the Web Site

Choosing a web hosting service provider greatly depends upon the functionality of your web site. Many web hosting firms provide packages which include web templates, javascript snippets for adding cool stuff to your web site and other useful resources. Creating a web site will be fun if you choose the right web hosting package.

Why You Need a Paid Web Hosting

Lots of web hosting service providers are offering identical packages today. And hence it will be difficult for you to choose the right web hosting service for your web site. Choosing the best suited web hosting plan is very important for a smooth running web site. Due to unsuitability in the web hosting plan, one can face losses by decreasing sales, or even losing customers. There are some important factors that have to be considered before buying a web hosting solution.

Web hosting plans that are available on the Internet differ in their pricing. There are some free web hosting plans too. While free hosting plans are meant for personal, non commercial web sites, the paid ones will be good for business web sites. Free web hosting solutions always have certain kinds of restrictions, most unacceptable to any respectable business.

Disk Space or Storage Space Restrictions

As one’s web site is a collection of files being offered on the Internet for viewing, it is necessary to store them somewhere for retrieval. These files are stored in the web servers offered by the web hosting service provider. Most of the free web hosting solutions offer a little storage space (say) 500 Mb or even less than that. This space will not be adequate for a business web site. Even a personal web site with many video and music files cannot be accommodated in so little space. Paid web hosting will let you get the desired server space for your files. If you need more space for storing files you can expand by paying a little extra.

Web Traffic restrictions

Business promotions can cause large amount of traffic flowing to a website. And that’s what the business websites are meant for. However, the free hosting service providers allow only limited traffic to your website. Most of the free web hosts allow 5 GB (max) of traffic to your website. Once the traffic to your website crosses the limit, your website won’t be visible to the public. The paid web hosts allow much greater traffic which is indispensable for business website

Email Account Restrictions

The free web hosting solutions often provide only 2-5 email accounts for the users. If your business organization needs email addresses assigned to all your employees, you will not be able to do that with the help of free hosts. Paid web hosts allow a greater number of user email accounts (at least 50) to be created.

No Tools and Applications

Paid web hosting packages include tools and applications that are needed to tweak or modify a website. The applications will be ready-made and can be used in a website with ease. The tools include virus protection, privacy tools, etc. None of these tools or applications will be available with the free hosting packages.

Domain selection – 5 Tips for choosing a domain name

The domain name is a very important part of your website. The careful selection and keywording of your domain name is one of the most crucial part of the initial steps in setting up any website. Here are the 5 tips for choosing a domain name.

1.Buy shorter domain name:- It is always better to choose a shorter domain name for your website. Shorter names are also easier to remember than long names or phrases. Choose something that would make you click on if for further information.

2.Keyword inside:- It is better to add your keywords in your domain name. This is because many people look for websites using keywords. Having keywords separated by dashes in your main domain will help you in getting traffic through organic search results. If you want your site to be ranked high by the search engines then it makes a huge difference if your main keyword is in your domain name.

3..com is the best:- .com is always the best extension to have, if people can't remember what is , that is the one they will try. Buy the others as well if they are available and redirect them to the .com. There have been rumors that the extensions other than .net, .com or .org , have less weight with search engines.

4.Expired domains:- You can look up expired domains that are either short, have good names, have keywords, or have back links. These domains can be like gold because the past owners may have put in a great deal of effort in getting web traffic. These types of domains should be considered if you already have an existing domain name. The price tag is usually a lot higher than a brand new domain name.

5.Put up a parking page:- After you buy a domain, immediately put up a parking page with keywords and some inbound links. Even if you don’t intend to use the domain for several months, aged domains have more value and legitimacy to search engines. You want a portfolio of domain names that is aged like fine wine. This way, when you start new projects, it will seem like the sites have been up for months or years and have just gained popularity and content.

Make Your Domains Work for You

More and more people are entering the world wide web, and it is becoming increasingly harder and harder to come up with a great domain name, especially with a “dot com“ at the end of it. If you go to such sites as Go Daddy, and try out your creative website name in a search, you will be amazed at how many times the search will come back "This name already taken". You have to really start thinking through your domain names.

For a great website, you need to start with at least an idea of what the website will be about, then come up with a great domain name. Think of some great niche's, think of the everyday things you do, and keep a notepad with you, just in case you come up with lots of great inspiring ideas. You could have a flash of brilliant ideas at work, only to lose them somewhere between your boss driving you nuts and coffee break, so write them down!

Once you have these great ideas for websites, get on your computer right away, and register those inspiring domain names, even if you have not got the time to start the actual website, at least you will have the name registered to you.

If down the road, you decide you don't want that name anymore, you can always sell it. But if you want your domain names to be working for you, at least while you think of a great website, there are sites that will let you "park" your domain name and possibly make some money in advertising.

If you are one of those creative people, who have come up with many domain names and have them registered, waiting for the day you get that great website going, at least make them working domains, and cash in on some advertising money while you wait. This is also a great way to find out, how inspiring those domain names really are. Take a look at any of the domain registry sites, and see about the domain parking possibilities for your future money making sites. There is usually a monthly fee, but if you have lots of inspiring domain names out there, it might be worth it.

Manual Website Submission To Free Directories

Link popularity is an important factor for high search engine rankings. For a new site, submission to general or specialized web directories, is a good way to build links and therefore, increase your site search engine rankings. Of course do not expect miracles, directory submission is only the starting point in link building.

Write few different description and titles, which contain the keywords you would like to rank for. Keep in mind that every directory is different, even if they look the same! Most of them have strict guidelines for submission, read it very careful and follow it. In some high quality directories you will not have the second chance. Make sure that site's title and description are unique and respect the conditions imposed by directory's guidelines. Some directories require an email address on the same domain as URL's site so keep this in mind when you decide which email address you will use. I suggest you to create a special email address for the directory submission because you will receive a lot of confirmation emails (maybe some spam too). Choose the most appropiate category for your site. Do not resubmit the site if the directory's guidelines interdict it, your listing could be deleted.

Importance of KEYWORDS and KEYPHARASES : Keywords and Keypharases are used to promote and market a website by improving search engine rankings.

Where to use KEYWORDS and KEYPHARASES for Offpage Optimization : The Keywords and keypharases are used as the anchor text to link to the site. Search engines specially google attach lot of importance to the anchor text hence if there is a keyword in it, the site gets promoted for that keyword.

The Keywords and keypharases are also used to advertise, promote and market site with PPC (pay per click) and PPI(pay per impression)

Where to use KEYWORDS and KEYPHARASES for Onpage Optimization : KEYWORDS and KEYPHARASES are generally used with HTML tags ( title tag, meta description tag, meta keywords tags, body tag , anchor tags, comment tags, heading tags, alt tags, table tags, form tags, list tags, formatting tags, frame tags, map tags, applet tags, etc.) and in url itself. Apart from this the keywords & key phrases are used in the text matter of the page.

These are also used to create KRPs (Keyword Rich Pages where a specific KEYWORD and KEYPHARASE is repeated to get top ranking for that particular web page for a particular KEYWORD).

The strategy is to target one keyword or at maximum two, per page. Once these KRPs are produced it is easier to get these pages ranked with search engines. These pages then have links to other pages in the site & hence serve as the passage way for inviting in the surfer to investigate the site deeply. These Keyword rich optimized pages are also called Doorway Pages.

So lets start to introduce the keywords where they belong:

KEYWORDS and KEYPHARASES uses in THE PAGE TITLE :
--------------------------------------------------

Page title is the first element that search spiders find on a web page and hence it stands to reason that the title of each page should be carefully crafted.

THE PAGE TITLE text is displayed by using tags in the title bar of the web browser. As it is one of the most important element of the webpage therefore most important and essential KEYWORD AND KEYPHARASE (S) must be included in it. KEYWORDS and KEYPHARASES which are used in page title are used by search engines in their result listing and they are then used by the target audience as the hyperlink to access the website from the search engine results page(SERP).

Keywords in a title is generally upto 60 characters or less including spaces. Google cutsoff title text after 60 characters when it is displayed in the SERPs. To achieve high ranking on the search engines the main keyword or phrase for the web page should appear should appear in the beginning of the title on the page. The page title tag carries significant weight in most search engine algorithms.

Example:

The page title keyword & kyphrases tutorial for search engine marketing uses keywords ( keyword , keyphrases, tutorial, search engine marketing)

These keywords and keypharases are dependent upon the domain, nature and objective of the web site.

KEYWORDS and KEYPHARASES uses in THE META TAGS :
-------------------------------------------------

Meta Tags : Meta Tags are html text which describe information about the web page. In other words they provide data about data(web page content). Meta tags are invisible on the web page. They do not appear in browser window. To access them one has to select View menu and then select sourcece option from menu bar of browser Each meta tag has both a 'name' and a 'content' attribute.

SEO - How can Your SEO Keywords make Money

As you likely know by now, there is a big difference between effective, quality website content, and search engine optimized (SEO) website content that will obtain the highest ranks in search engines and directories such as Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. However, to apply SEO properly to your website, you first need to know which keywords to use. Once you have them, you also need to know if those keywords are working for you, or if you will need to tweak them to get better results. After all, a keyword is only as good as the money it makes for you.

The keyword itself is a certain word or phrase that someone would type into a search engine or web directory in order to find your website. The keyword you choose for any given page should describe that page in a way that a regular web surfer would search for it. The keyword should be a direct reflection of the content of that page. They should never contain any random or additional words that have nothing to do with you, your business, or your website. If they do contain these excess words, then you won't obtain the maximum results from your SEO strategy.

Among the most widely accepted keyword strategies is that the number of keywords in a website should never exceed 21-22. There are sites out there that have well over six and seven hundred keywords, without any content to back those keywords up. Even if they did have content for every one of those keywords, there would be no point, since search engines will ignore any keyword over their limit of 22 words.

Keywords are each counted as one word. Key phrases, on the other hand, are also counted as one, no matter how many words make them up. For example, if you owned a computer company, a keyword could be "computers". This would be counted as one word. However, you could also have a key phrase "discount computer company", which would also be counted as one.

Even though key phrases are each counted as only one keyword, you should always keep them very short and straight to the point, without any excess words or puff.

To properly apply these keywords to your website, you first need to come up with a list of 21 or 22 keywords/key phrases that will describe your website content, such as the product or service you are selling. You then need to work them into your content, as well as into the site description coding and any additional information you submit to the search engines upon registration with them.

To identify the keywords, there are many different tools that you can use. You can pull them straight out of the air, have friends and colleagues brainstorm with you, or use one or two of many different softwares that are available for specifically that purpose. One of the most popular among these softwares is the Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool. You simply need to tell it what your site is about, and it will suggest a number of different potential keywords based on what has been searched for within the last past month.

By making sure that you're using the right keywords, you're much more likely to choose exactly the word or phrase that a web surfer might type when searching for what your site has to offer. This is the entire point of SEO. When done properly, you'll increase the number of visitors to your site, and will therefore experience increased sales. Your website will be more visible, more find-able, and more successful, all by selecting the right wording. Though it may sound complex at first, once you get the hang of it, it does become much more routine. You must remember, though, that this is a time consuming process, and is something that you will need to maintain for the entire life of your website. If you don't have the time or willingness to dedicate to your website, be certain to hire a professional to do it for you. It is definitely worth the extra few dollars that it will cost. The increased sales will pay for the SEO many times over.

Free Directories Sites Submission

As you know link popularity is an important factor for high search engine rankings. For a new site, submission to general or specialized web directories, is a good way to build links and therefore, increase your site search engine rankings. Indexing Your Site easily

Before a site appears in search results, a search engine must index it. An indexed site will have been visited and analyzed by a search robot with relevant information saved in the search engine database. If a page is present in the search engine index, it can be displayed in search results otherwise, the search engine cannot know anything about it and it cannot display information from the page.

Most average sized sites (with dozens to hundreds of pages) are usually indexed correctly by search engines. However, you should remember the following points when constructing your site. There are two ways to allow a search engine to learn about a new site:
- Submit the address of the site manually using a form associated with the search engine, if available. In this case, you are the one who informs the search engine about the new site and its address goes into the queue for indexing. Only the main page of the site needs to be added, the search robot will find the rest of pages by following links.
- Let the search robot find the site on its own. If there is at least one inbound link to your resource from other indexed resources, the search robot will soon visit and index your site. In most cases, this method is recommended. Get some inbound links to your site and just wait until the robot visits it. This may actually be quicker than manually adding it to the submission queue. Indexing a site typically takes from a few days to two weeks depending on the search engine. The Google search engine is the quickest of the bunch.

Try to make your site friendly to search robots by following these rules:
- Try to make any page of your site reachable from the main page in not more than three mouse clicks. If the structure of the site does not allow you to do this, create a so-called site map that will allow this rule to be observed.
- Do not make common mistakes. Session identifiers make indexing more difficult. If you use script navigation, make sure you duplicate these links with regular ones because search engines cannot read scripts.
- Remember that search engines index no more than the first 100-200 KB of text on a page. Hence, the following rule – do not use pages with text larger than 100 KB if you want them to be indexed completely.

You can manage the behavior of search robots using the file robots.txt. This file allows you to explicitly permit or forbid them to index particular pages on your site.

The databases of search engines are constantly being updated; records in them may change, disappear and reappear. That is why the number of indexed pages on your site may sometimes vary. One of the most common reasons for a page to disappear from indexes is server unavailability. This means that the search robot could not access it at the time it was attempting to index the site. After the server is restarted, the site should eventually reappear in the index.

You should note that the more inbound links your site has, the more quickly it gets re-indexed. You can track the process of indexing your site by analyzing server log files where all visits of search robots are logged. We will give details of seo software that allows you to track such visits in a later section.
