Most of the devastating worms and viruses of recent times were distributed via email. These viruses feed on the curiosity and also the ignorance of a huge number of email users. People will get an email from fakename@weirdsuspiciousdomain and they'll just open whatever file is attached to it.

If the email is from someone you know, always scan any attachments first before downloading or opening them.

2. Protect yourself

Good protection on the Internet these days consists of 3 components: anti-virus software, anti-spyware software and a firewall.

As for a firewall, Windows XP ships with a decent enough firewall. Just make sure it is always enabled. Alternatively you can visit a site like http://www.download.com and search for Zone Alarm, which has an excellent free version.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to keep your anti-virus software up to date. It is recommended that you update your anti-virus and anti-spyware software at least once a week. An anti-virus program that uses definitions that are months old is just about useless.

3. Watch out what you download

Spyware is embedded in a lot of software on the Internet - especially those related to ripping, converting and playing music and videos. That free MP3 player or DVD Ripper you just downloaded may have installed a bunch of harmful spyware without you even knowing about it.

If you want to pick up viruses and spyware quickly, visit some pornographic web sites. One wrong click on a subtle little pop-up or security warning window (which you'll run into often on these type of sites) and you'll have infested yourself with trojan horses, spyware, dialers and other unfavorable software that could leave your computer wide open to further attacks.

Beautiful Holiday in UK

Summer is just a few days away, and it means that I could feel relieved from my busy activities at work for few days. Thanks God. I could take a rest, enjoy my hobbies and pay more attention to my two little kids. And since my wife is also taking holiday on the same days, I guess there should be something we could do altogether. In my opinion, visiting my parents or parents-in-law would be a good idea; yet we did it last month on the weekends. Having picnics or visiting good-looking landscape seems to be perfect for my wife and me, but I am not sure for the kids. Well, I have to discuss this with her somehow.
She agrees with me to have the holiday together, and finally we are planning to take holiday cottages where we all could enjoy a lot of things together but we also could each favorite hobby. That sounds to be fun, and I just can’t wait for it! We start to check some references of the cottages from some brochures and leaflets, and get online to get more information. Then cornwall cottages seem to be perfect for our holiday because I know cornwall is a fantastic place. Since it does not take us too long to get the place, I would rather to drive my car there.
I am trying to know much more about this place. Browsing through the internet, I learn much about it. This is the most exotic holiday place with a lot of facilities for anyone staying or just renting there; a good place to take family and children on vacation and special moments such as birthday and parties. Related to holidays, there are also some other programs provided such as self catering holidays; it is good for the office meeting site and some presentation or training programs. Once we rent a room, an apartment or a cottage available there, we could then enjoy other facilities like swimming pool for the family or kids especially. I prefer practicing my swing on golf, and my wife seems to prepare her time for shopping. Wow, I am sure that when we are there, we would not feel away from home. All facilities inside the cottage are also out of world; special service for guests. This all kind of furniture is what I have been dreaming of, and all decoration and accessories are definitely supporting the sense of holiday; relaxing and pacifying. What a place!
